Outsourcing Payroll

As a small business owner with just a few employees, Payroll can be on of those jobs that you have to do each month but don't look forward to, especially as it can be time consuming if you don't know what you're doing.

But this is where outsourcing it to a Payroll Specialist can come in handy. Think work smarter not harder!

Your Payroll specialist can do everything from on-boarding a new starters, to calculating their pay and deductions to setting up the wage payments each month and sending out the payslips.

You might prefer to have them just process the payroll and to make the payments yourself, and this is fine, they can do as little or as much as you'd like.

What about Payroll softwares? The options available to you can vary depending on the number of employees that you have and how much you are willing to pay.

For example, if you have less than 10 employees then HMRC offers a perfectly good free Payroll Software and others such as 12 Cloud also offer a free version, but you may prefer to keep it in house and use the Payroll function of your accounting software. For example, Xero offers Payroll as an add-on for a small monthly fee.

Whatever option you decide, it's always worth talking with a Payroll Provider who will have knowledge of things such as employment law, what's required for a new starter, what the minimum wage is and what needs reporting each month.
